Where are steel belts used?
Steel belts are used for precise power transmission, clean-room environment, food conveying, robots, heating, drying, vacuum environment, and many other applications across different industries.

What is producible range of steel belts such as thickness and width?
Thickness ranges from 0.04 to 1.2mm and width from 2 to 1,300mm. However, there are exceptions by combination of thickness, width and length.

How long is the durable life of steel belts?
We can’t tell you generally. The belt’s life depends on the application and how belts are used. Ten million rotations or more is used as a guideline in the power transmission system.

What kinds of surface treatment are available on steel belts?
Fluoroplastics coating, black finishing, mirror finishing, matt finishing, emboss processing, etc.

How is the steel belt welded?
It is done by butt welding on the cross section of both strip edges. There is no visible bump as it is in stack welding.

Which shape has a steel open belt?
It is a flat open belt strip. There are end brackets (reinforcing plates) on each end of the steel belt strip. 

What is a ring-rolled seamless steel belt?
A belt is once welded. This welded belt goes thru the ring rolling machine. After the ring rolling process it becomes half thick with high rigidity and remarkable flatness. There is no surface irregularity in the entire belt including the welded section. That’s why it is called seamless.

How is DYMCO Ring-rolled seamless steel belt different from other belts?
There is no difference in rigidity between the welded section and the base belt. This makes the belt stronger and enables the use of smaller pulley diameters. The most common application is power transmission. The minimum pulley diameter is 16mm. Please contact us, however, if the diameter has to be less than 16mm.

Which endless belt is recommended for power transmission?
Ring-rolled seamless steel belt is recommended for power transmission. It works with small-diameter pulleys. The flatness including the welded section provides precise power transmission. Upon your inquiry we calculate the appropriate dimensions of the belt.

Which belt is recommended to use at 200 degrees C?
Heatproof steel belts are available. Very little distortion is caused by heating.

How wandering of belts can be prevented?
Crowned pulley, V-guides, and EPC (Edge Positioning Control) are the options. Each one has both strong and weak points. Please consult us on this matter.

Do you have any standard metal sleeves or any sleeves in your stock?
We produce upon order. We can make even 1 piece. We do not carry stocks. Dimensions in micron order are available.

How is a endless sleeve made and what features does it have?
We have 2 methods.

Endless type:
One is DYMCO’s original flow-forming technology which belongs to rolling methods, and the other is electro-forming. We recommend either one depending on specifications.

Welded type:
A thin steel plate is rolled and both ends are connected by butt arch welding of plasma, TIG or laser. There appears a little fine surface irregularity in this welded section. Producible minimum diameter is 30mm. This type is recommended for a small lot of micron-order specifications, short delivery and cost efficiency.
